Sea Food Fried Rice, Arroz Con Mariscos

This delectable and savory dish is made from fresh seafood including shrimp, scallops, crab, octopus, squid, fish, mussels, and clams.

In light of kicking it up a knot, some restaurants may even add jalapeno and hot peppers to the dish. While the picture posted above has fries as a side dish – the dish is generally served with fries (only in touristy areas where Europeans and North Americans frequent).

Traditionally speaking though the dish is served with a coleslaw side dish and in some cases a side of spicy salsa. The rice is prepared in chicken broth with local spices and saffron yielding in a bright yellow or bright orange batch of rice. The vegetables are fried separately and then combined with the rice after it has finished cooking. The final step includes adding fried seafood to the medley of vegetables and rice – and voila!

Deep or Pan Fried Red Snapper

This dish is a common occurrence in the western coastal areas of Costa Rica. Usually, deep-fried in spices and light batter or pan-fried – it is often served with citrus garnishing and a side of flavourful salsa salad. If you are a seafood lover then you must try this dish as it leaves a party of flavors in your mouth and it’s the kind of fish where you can really “taste the ocean” in. Usually served as a full fish – you have to ensure you take care when sifting through the bones.
